Frequently Asked Questions

Does Shoot Workshops offer long beginners courses?

Not yet. We currently offer Learn to Shoot which is a 1-day intensive entry level workshop that runs regularly on Wednesday from 10am until 4pm or over 3 weeks on Wednesday evenings from 6pm until 8pm. Learn to Shoot is priced at $99.

Can I buy a Shoot Workshops gift voucher?

Yes you can! Gift vouchers can be purchased for any course or workshop and we can either send it to you by post or as an e-voucher. To buy a gift voucher, please email us at

I have to cancel my class. Am I able to receive a refund or enrol into another class?

Yes. If you give us reasonable notice, we can transfer your course fee to a class you would like to attend and is equivalent in value.

Do I need to bring my camera to the workshop?

Yes. For all practical workshops involving camera techniques it is beneficial that you bring your own camera equipment – fully charged and with the lenses you use regularly.

If you would like to borrow a camera and/or lens for the class, we offer free hire for the duration of the workshop through Camera Electronic. If you would like to do this, please contact the Workshops Coordinator at at least 48 hours beforehand. If the Workshops Coordinator is unavailable, please contact The Rentals Department at Camera Electronic and present your workshop ticket.

Do I need to bring a laptop installed with Adobe software to class?

Yes. If you are enrolled in Photoshop, it is best to bring your laptop as you will be spending time editing your images / video work throughout the course. If you do not have a laptop, you can still participate in the class and are encouraged to take substantial notes. Photoshop can be installed on your laptop for $11.99 a month through Adobe CC. There is also a 7 day free trial.

Are your course and workshops held at the Shoot Workshops premises?

Almost always. Some workshops include a practical component that is held outdoors either around Fremantle or in natural landscape locations.  In these instances, we notify you the address that you need to travel to.

Is there available parking near Shoot Workshops?

Yes. There is paid all-day parking in the centre of Stirling St and 2P free parking on the verge. Parking is free after 5:30pm.

Is time allocated for lunch during a full-day workshop?

Definitely. You can bring your lunch and there are also great cafes within walking distance such as Something’s Good, Source Foods and Brika.

Do I receive a certificate after I finish a course?

Although Shoot Workshops is not a training facility that offers accredited courses, we can handcraft a certificate of completion for you upon request.
